| Post subject: | Neck re-set on Yamaha? |
I need to do a neck re-set on a yamaha that is probably about 20 years old.I`m not even sure about the neck joint,or if this is a repair that is possible on this guitar.Any knowledge or ideas? James |

The Yamahas I've seen from the '70s have a "standard" dovetail neck joint. It quite a deep dovetail and the dot at the 15th fret needs to be removed and that's where you'll want to drill to inject the steam. The neck block is usually spruce. |

Thanks Laurent I appreciate the input.I`ve done a Martin re-set,and this sounds pretty similar, except for removing the dot and not the fret.Personally I don`t think this guitar is worth the effort.It was the first guitar this person ever owned so it`s that kind of thing. James |
