The newest Luthier Tips du Jour instructional video is on Youtube. The topic is the bolt on mortise and tenon neck joint. Subtitles are available in both English and Portuguese and you can translate them into any other language by using the CC option on Youtube.
As always, comments and discussion are welcome.

Nice video, as always, Robbie! Your presentations get more professional with each new chapter! Thanks for posting.

The neck tenon routing jig that you highlight (AKA Woolson Neck Tenon Jig) has a great construction drawing that used to be available for purchase here at the OLF. Check with Lance or Michael Payne for more details. It's a great jig and well worth building if you build your own necks and plan to build more than one guitar.

Thank you Jim and JJ.

I have been using a version of this jig for years and within the last few years added the metal rod part of the jig after seeing the Woolson Jig. I always get emails from people asking about plans and didn't know any plans existed anywhere. If someone knows about a set of plans please let me know so I can pass this info on.

Another great video Robbie, you make getting building info much easier. I wish I was beginning now instead of 4 years ago, I would have avoided a lot of extra web searching and mistake corrections.

I also am interested in plans if they are still available.

Robbie, Fabulous as always. They just keep getting better and better! This one, in particular with the jigs is a huge help on a fairly daunting area (neck angle). I assume the next video will be on body crack repair after backing off jig tension? laughing6-hehe

Robbie, your jig looks a lot better than the one on your dvd (you complained about the dust shooting back on your face) I got from LMI a few years ago. I use StewMac templates and built a similar fixture with their plans. Great video.

BTW, I use brass thread inserts instead of barrel nuts. Does one have an advantage over another?

The design is the same as the jig used in my dvd. This is just another jig that was actually put together as a prototype of my jig by Tracy Leveque from Luthier Suppliers. Perhaps he could be talked into putting it into production.
When you say you are using threaded inserts I assume you are screwing them into the end grain rather than through the grain like the barrel nuts. Both methods will work but I prefer the cross grain inserts.

One question - So how do you deal with the gap under the fingerboard extension above the soundhole, or is that a separate video??

Clamp it till you hear a crack, then back off... laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe

If I understand your question, the gap is due to the neck angle. I adjust the shelf of my jig to find the correct neck angle and then cut the tenon.

It is attached to the upper deck by a couple of hinges.

I've been working through a M&T bolt-on in my mind for a while (as in over the past 5 or 6 builds). This is probably the closest I've been without actually drawing out a plan to start cutting the jig.
