Hey all,

I'm putzing around with a side project that resembles a dreadnought guitar. I used some leftover plastic binding and wedge material (black).

The guitar is all mahogony, top/back sides. I haven't completely decided on what to finish it with yet, but I'm leaning towards tru-oil, as something I can do relatively quickly and easily without a spray set up (I don't have any spray equipment and send out my guitars).

Anyway, I've leveled everything, and am ready to final sand and begin the pore-filling process, and was wondering how to prep the plastic for finish, and how different pore-filling systems affect or are affected by plastic bindings.

With all wood, I normally just sand everything to 320 before filling. Is anything else necessary for the plastic?

What *I* do is sand everything to 320 then steel wool it with the grain. I explore everything with naptha, a light and a magnifying glass looking for scratches then run up through the grits again in that spot until they are gone.

I find plastic to be harder to work with than wood for this reason.
