Brought this home from work today.

it's #50 so I wanted a treat for myself.

full spec is below, but I can't post a sound clip as my finger still hurts too much from where I put it through the table saw on May 1st.........

BUT, Paddy, who used to be a music teacher in the school where I teach was is today for supply cover. He's retired now from teaching, but is still a semi pro player and tours the US every summer. he has a stable of guitars that'd make Tommy Emmanuel jealous!! Lowden, McIlroy, Larivee, Martin, Seagull, McPherson.... he KNOWS his acoustics!!

anyway, he wandered down first thing this morning for a play and he said he was really impressed. Far more bass than he'd have expected from a small body. and that was before the set up!!

I spent a bunch of time on the setup this afternoon, and I just WISH I could play the blasted thing!!!!

ah well, maybe by the middle of the summer......

of maybe after we get back from France in mid August.......

Top Engleman Spruce
Neck Mahogany and cherry 5 piece lam
Fretboard Ebony
Binding leopardwood
rosette..... nah, don't got one!!
electronics Fishman ion+
pins nut & saddle bone.

so, what would I change?

well, I wouldn't injure my flippin' finger so as not to be able to play!!!!

the Ovangkol looks great and bends reasonably (but is icky smelly when wet). the leopardwood was leftover from another build so I KNEW it was going to be tricky to bend, but I got away with it......

nope, I wouldn't change a thing!!

Thanks for posting this Martin. Hope your finger heals up quickly. I especially love the added effect of the super green grass. Being of Irish decent historically I have a great appreciation for green. :mrgreen: Maybe some sound clips after you finish healing eh? [:Y:]

The photo looking down the neck makes it look like the neck is twisted. Is that the camera angle?

no, it's the way that the nut is nearer to the camera on the bass side than the treble.

the headstock is angled accordingly, but the neck itself is straight.

I think the fanned frets are playing optical illusion tricks on our minds.. :)

Nice execution - and I dig how it looks without the soundhole.

That's probably the most subtle fan I've seen - what are the inner & outer scale lengths?

Hi Erik, didnt want to be too extreme with a first attempt at fanning til I saw if (a) I could do it and (b) if I could play it!!

the mitre box I used had 25 1/2 inch outside, 24 inside.

after slotting & trimming the fret board what is actually on the guitar is 25 1/4 and 24 1/2
