OLF SJ from Michael Payne's plans. AAA Lutz top from Shane Neifer at High Mountain Tonewood Oregon Myrtle back and sides also from Shane (He's probably going to kick himself for letting this set go ![]() Claro walnut bindings and Map-o-lam purflings from Bob Cefalu at RC Tonewoods Claro walnut rosette, end graft, and heel cap from the scrap pile at my local Woodcraft ![]() Neck 7 piece laminate mahogany/walnut/myrtle/walnut/myrtle/walnut/mahogany from Chris at Hanalei-Moon Macassar Ebony headplate, bridge, and fretboard from LMI Spectacular finish by Joe White - I chose a satin finished neck and it is truly the finest I have ever felt. These pictures could never do it justice. A truly heartfelt thanks to my good friend and mentor Michael Payne. I lost count of how many emails we exchanged and how many hours we spent on the phone. He literally walked me through every step and got me out of some awful mistakes many times. I could never have done this without him and for that I will always be grateful. Thank you my friend ![]() ![]() ![]() Recording can be found at the following link http://web.me.com/digidoc1010/Recordings/Myrtle_Lutz_SJ.html |

WOW! great job Dan! I hope my first will end up looking half as decent as yours!. I really like how the glossy body contrasts with the satin neck! Again, terrific work! |

Thank you all for the kind words. I am very pleased with the tone of this guitar. It is nicely balanced and it has a very warm quality. I am a bit surprised (pleasantly) at how loud it is. It works well when played fingerstyle, but I have to say it really shines when strummed. I made a lot of mistakes the first time around and I hope to correct them on number 2. This forum is an amazing resource and I really appreciate the members and the wealth of information that is here ![]() ![]() ![]() |
