I got in touch with Hesh and David Collins, and the word is that neither of them has the time to organize one of these this year. If I were in Ann Arbor (or somewhere in that region), I would seriously consider doing it myself. There was quite good attendance at the last one, which makes me wonder if there might be somebody out of that bunch of folks who would consider doing it, perhaps with a little encouragement from some of the rest of us. I would certainly be willing to help in any way I can from here. A Great Lakes get together, sometime in September, perhaps... ?? Anyone?? |

If Jackson is central enough, I imagine I could get something together, though I have to check with boss first  . Then if I beg enough - maybe Lance will even help

Stephen, Fred, or whoever else may be lurking on this thread, I do hope one of you picks up the ball and runs with it. I'd love to see it happen, and I suspect a good number of folks would come out of the woodwork and sign on for it. I think Jackson would be fine; on the other hand, being so close to Ann Arbor, where the last gathering was held so successfully at the Elk's Lodge, you might want to consider holding it there again. Just a thought. I'm rarely short on suggestions. A number of people I've spoken to all seem to think September (sometime after the Wheatland Fest) might be best, a sentiment with which I also concur. Yet another suggestion. As I said, though I'm pretty far away in Ithaca, NY, I'd be happy to help in any way I can. I have friends in Ann Arbor I can stay with (I lived there for 15 years), so I could possibly come a day or two ahead of time to help with last minute preparations. |

I would be most happy to assist anyone putting this together. I would check out locations here in Windsor On. but since there is a border in the way (Passports now needed) I think it would not work out well. I wonder if Woodcraft would provide a location, the store on VanDyke has a large workshop/Classroom, though they might object to us trading and selling tonewood. Fred |
