So about three years ago I bought a bottle of CA solvent and stuck it on the shelf. Never used it, never needed it then................... Last night I glued two fingers together, really did a good job too ![]() That solvent came in real handy. ![]() If you don't have any you might want to get some. I guess acetone would do good too. |

Steve, Thank you for the info. Do you know any solvent for contact glue (adhesive). I would like to clean my sanding board to glue another sheet of sanding paper and it is taking tooo long ![]() |

They use lighter fluid at the bookshop to remove old price stickers and residue from used books. |

Some lighter fluids are no longer naptha based. Naptha is sometimes spelled Naphtha. It's the same thing. You can buy a big bottle of naptha(or naphtha) at a hardware store for the price of a small bottle of lighter fluid. Obviously it's extrememly flammable so be careful. I was told the CA "debonder" is a mixture of acetone and cooking oil. I just keep some acetone handy. I have a tendency to glue.........everything to...........everything. FWIW, I don't think Naptha will work on CA, but it works great for most adhesives. |

I thought fingernail polish and acetone (same thing?) were good solvents for CA. BTW, gluing your fingers together is a neat trick right before the big games on Saturday which normally coincide with the Honey-Do list being handed over. You can still hold a long neck bottle too. ![]() Mike |

Have you tried "Goo gone" ? Pretty easy to find and it's worked well for me in removing some pretty tenacious adhesives. John |

Fingernail polish remover WITH acetone in it. They make some acetone free brands, and it won't work on CA. It's the acetone that dissolves the glue. Don't ask how I found that little tid-bit out.... |

If you glue two fingers together with CA glue take a Bic pen or similar(octagonal shaped body) and roll it through the two fingers from the inside to the out. Bingo , no pain, nothing, instant release. Try it and see. It also makes a good party trick. Cheers Chopper |

Not so good for side to side which is what I did. ![]() |
