Is this compatable with Stew Mac's waterborne lacquer?

I don't know about compatibility, but I doubt the solids content of the Deft finish is correct for instrument finishing. There's several people around here who know ALOT more than I do about this. Hopefully they'll weigh in.

I would highly doubt it ... I woudlnt even mix two products form the same supplier if they are truly different, like say a USL and a Emtech6000 or whatever it is ...

two different nitros .. like Mcfaddens and Mohawk .... maybe - at least they are both true nitros and instrument grade.

Solids content has nothing to do with it .. nitro is about 18-20 %, waterbase a bit higher, Taylor's UV polyester is 100. Once you shoot the nitro, it gasses off, and fairly quickly you get .. about 100 percent solids - otherwise it would run !!!!

intrument finish is more about plasticisers, the finish elasticity, and how well the finish can move with the wood without checking - unless you WANT it to ....

So, in a nutshell ... you can try it, but you wont really know till after it cures whether or not it wont separate with a good knock, leaving it looking like a blister, because it didnt adhere well enough.

Thank you so much. What a different world of guitar making you pros have made since the '60's. It was hard to get ANY advice back then. You are to be commended!

I found this today. AQULUX...are you familier with this product. It is a waterbased material and seems to work the same as the other water borne lacquers. I'm going to see how it does on my next one. Sprayed one today and it looks good so far.
