Post subject:  Tenor Uke: B&S thickness?

Hi Folks,

I remember seeing some recommended thicknesses for Ukes, but i just can't seem to find them in the archives. Any recommendations for a tenor Uke B&S thickness (figured blackwood all around).

Thx!

Glenn

I know there are some discussions here about thicknesses here, but you will also find a lot of really good information on the Uke Talk forum.

Personally, I start at 090 with the sides (sometimes thinner, depending on the wood), and stay around that arena. Backs are thinned from 090 also, but I've also been known to go down to 070, again depending on the wood. I know a builder who's gone down to .063 on the top with no problems, I'm guessing the backs may be close as well (but that's only a guess).

I tend to like thicker sides to go along with a back that moves.

Just my $.02 - Aaron
