...do you guys offset your carbon footprint from the flight? There are some reforestation projects which hopefully lead to sustainable forest management like http://www.treeswaterpeople.org in central/south america planting species like mahogany, spanish cedar, and rosewood (amongst others) http://carbonoffsets.org/ which has a project in Madagascar (think ebony and Mad. Rosewood?) http://www.zerofootprint.net/forest-restoration/ which has a project in British Columbia, Canada, planting Sitka Spruce, Western Redcedar (amongst others) What does this have to do with lutherie? Well - those reforestation projects may help future generations of luthiers to build fine instruments ![]() cheers, and enjoy the guitar shows, Christian P.S. If you want to see the effects of deforestation in Madagascar (amongst many other things), I strongly recommend watching the movie HOME by Yann Arthus Bertrand http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqxENMKaeCU |

40 years ago when it was decided to regulate Brazilian, did anyone start planting Brazilian Rosewood to replenish the supply? How long does it take for a BZ tree to mature to a 2' - 3' wide tree? I'm driving in with my stick shift Jetta with Manual windows and proper air inflation in my tires. ![]() |
