I glued my irw purfs and bindings on with CA
Im pretty sure I sealed the edges with shellac tp prevent the RW stain
I have noticed right on the endgrain of the top
ie next to the fret boord and at the butt block a faint green bleed into the englemann
any one ever had that happen?

I have had CA glue bleed into the top around the purfling , but the result was yellowish. Maybe time for a sunburst or a black topped guitar.

Hi Steve.
Same happened to me when I built my first dreadnought with an engelmann top. I used CA to glue the purfling in the rosette and had that greeny yellowish stain seep through the end grain. Being green myself I didn't know about using shellac to prevent this duh .
I tried to remove the stain by sanding ,scraping and bleaching but with no avail. I eventually ended up colour matching the top with some artist colours from my paint box and carefully dry brushed along the edge of the the purfling, (in between the grain lines),resulting with quite a successful cover-up job. It shows slightly with the refraction under the finish but nobody could notice it unless I pointed it out ;) .

Same with me when I put sawdust into a gap in the rosette and put CA on top, I then compounded the error trying to sand it out, which in the end worked in my favour, as I ended up with a very responsive top that, sounds exactly as I wanted, just looks ugly

Sounds familiar - with my first rosette on Englemann, just before I sealed to prevent bleed, I errantly followed some online instructions to "wipe first with naptha", which of course bled the colour from the rosette into the top. duh No happy ending here...the guitar was complete but I could not stand seeing the staining, so I tried to sand it out, and of course sanded through my rosette! [headinwall] Oh well - all learning, and I have a nice thin resonant top!

Thats interesting. I wonder if it is Englemann specific. Im going to do some tests on off cuts and try some remedies weak bleach, peroxide oxyclean, etc
This one is a classical so no burst! I will be keeping this one so not a huge deal esp as I think it will be hidden as the finish yellows with time
