I am going to make guitar for my daughter who has recently lost her sight. Anybody have tips on play-ability? I was thinking of some kind of raised markers on the side dots. Ideas on how to do this? Any suggestions for the build? Thanks. |

I imagine jewel side makers with a raised surface. Maybe on the treble side as well? |

To be honest i don't think raised side markers are needed. The frets alone are raised themselves and are the only markers/reference points needed. I began guitar on an old parlor size acoustic with no markers at all including fretboard markers. And never used or depended on them on any guitar. My current electric has none. I think it help me alot by not depending on them. There have been many great blind players that were never held back by lack of sight. I wish your daughter well. she will do fine without special markers . Heck look at Doc Watson |

As others have said, looking at the markers is an acquired bad habit rather than something we should be doing. I'm now working hard on not looking, and I'm looking down less and less. |
