I'm ready to put my schaller mini tuners on. My peghead is 1/2" thick. The hole for the tuner is nominally 3/8" di. but that di. is .324 long. I am considering putting a bronze bushing to fill up the rest of the 3/8" hole. this bushing is .312 i.d & .375 o.d & approx .165 long.
The thread part of the tuneer still goes in nicely. I guess I felt it would give more support to the tuners central shaft. Has anyone ever heard of or done this?

I don't see any reason that it won't work. I use Schallers all the time and use a 10mm brad point bit and it is a great fit.

I use a 10mm bit also and have never in over 30 years of using Shallers had a failure do to the hole size.
Never had a failure with them at all.
Very well made !
