Are there any tutorials on doing a 45 style inlay on a guitar by hand? I am looking for tips and the best way to attack doing 45 style inlay with hand tools and unshaped abalone. If any of you who have completed this have an outline of attack or any tips please let me know. Thanks Jason Avila |

it is like binding any guitar except that you have many more pieces. This is where a binding machine is almost a given. I personally use straight abalone or paua for my 45's. Off hand I know of no tutorials |

I use ablam as to solid shell. Don't much see the point of using solid shell for the purfs as it's harder to work but that's a personal call. I have a YouTube tutorial in installing ablam top purfling in the tutorial section. I also have one on a jig for cutting pieces but it involves a band saw. viewtopic.php?f=10117&t=20542 |
