Hey Y'all, Michael Payne asked me to say hi to everybody for him. He's been on the road a lot and right now his computer is down. He said he'd be back online as soon as the technical glitches are worked out. ![]() ![]() This supplement to make it an official guitar talk, the FP Class was great. I learned a lot about the 'old school' method of FP. I may actually use it someday and have quite a bit of respect for the finish it produces, but for me personally, I think I'll still spray. Maybe after I perfect my technique over time I'll do a classical with FP but for now, I've got to work on it a bit more. Very labor intensive but it does produce a very satisfying look that reaches full hardness (at least I'm told ![]() Well, it's off to the BBQ pit. ![]() |

I hope MDP gets home safely ! F.P. is not for every guitarmaker! We all have to find what works for us. Yes it takes some time to do a great F.P. -and many of us do not have the time. I spray 2 coats of shellac -then fill the pores with clear waterbase filler-then sand back to the wood-with 220. Then 2 more shellac coats ;then waterbase . Apply -3 coats-level with 320-fill any (Where the hell did that hole come from)with waterbase spray 3 more thin coats- Level with 1500-2000 then buff! Mike works for me! ![]() |

Michael lives in Texas? I live in Texas, maybe I can just zoom over to his shop and meet him. Where would I be zooming to? |

Michael lives in Odessa, I think. From Beaumont that's like 9 1/2 hours, according to Mapquest. You could get to Tallahasse, FL, in the same amount of time, and that's 4 states away! My wife's from Beaumont, we live west of Fort Worth now. |

Odessa? Shoot, that's like just down the block from Beaumont. Like Mars. or Chicago. Nobody lives in Beaumont, I have to GO everywhere. |

Saying someone is in Texas is kind of like saying they are on a certain continent! ![]() Filippo Ever drive across Ontario!? 3 days if you sleep at night. |

Ya, they say that Ontario is so small that if you were to drop the Big state of Texas into Ontario, it would take 3 days to find it. Well thats what they say. tP |

Thanks Bill, I made it. I rode in a bit of rain from Colorado Springs to Pueblo and then again from Trinidad to Santa Fe Sunday afternoon but nothing bad. The sky’s were all clear the rest of the way home Monday. It was a great 1300 mile tip in 3 days on the Goldwing. ![]() |

I'd love to visit Brazil sometime. I hope I wouldn't have any trouble getting my "thick wood lined" suit cases back through customs. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
