What grits of sand paper do you run on your twin drum sander, for sanding top and back plates? thanks Jody

I have 80 and 120/150, although i usually have it set up to only use one drum at a time. I go for 60 grit if there is a lot of material to hog off.

I load mine with 100/120 or 120/150. I prefer the higher grits as I find the lower ones leave me with too much sanding afterwards.

A drum sander is not a planer and shouldn't be used as such. If I have a lot of material to take off, I just take more passes. A good planer is on my 'goodies I want' list...

Anyways, if you try to take off too much material at once, you'll clog up your paper, regardless of grit.
