If you are applying shellac as a sealer/build coat under a brushed varnish, (not FP), what is a good pore filler. Will the Z-poxy work in this situation. I have LMII's oil based filler, but it does not mention working with shellac seal coat. Anyone tried that?

Will the coats of shellac fill mahogany pores quickly enough, without using the filler?

Help me kick the Nitro habit.

I use CA for filler on top of shellac seal coats. After filling I put a couple more coats of shellac before finishing. I've read that epoxy doesn't stick to shellac but I don't know if that's true.
Edit/added here's a discussion about CA for filler. http://www.luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22286

I've used CA to fill with nitro, EM6000 and varnish, but I've always used shellac under, and over the CA.

The LMII oil-based filler will definitely work on top of a shellac sealer. In fact, that is the preferred approach. You might want to use another coat of sealer after the filler has dried at least 48 hours. Then start on your finish of choice.

Thanks guys.

Doing a scrap side first. Got the shellac sealer on, the oil based pore filler is in.
