Hi all. as a beginner I´ve spent lots of time thinking of what I need to be able to get things going. One of the things I spent lots of time on was the saddle slot. I´ve went to Stew-mac and other sites to buy me a jig for cutting out the saddle slot, They cost alot !!! next I was thinking of getting me one of those things you can wind up/down/in/out to have on the benchpress. well that also would cost a bunch. so how hard could it be to come up with something easy with no cost at all to it. Well, for all you just starting out and also are in a position of not knowing how to do this and that. here´s one easy way to cut the saddle slot. "allthough" you will need a router machine. Just get a straight piece of wood that the router can lean on "see the photos" put just a drop of super glue on a drillbit or similar to have as a distance to get the bridge slot in a straight line. then fix the depth for the router and do the cutting. On the sides of the piece of wood or as me MDF, use some double sticker tape and tape a stop on each side of the wood that the router is leaning on, this to not make the cut to long (not showing on the photo). the Bridge is double sticker taped to stay put. as on the photo. I´ve done 3 this way and it is really simple and works great. Good luck . Lars. Attachment: cut3.jpg Attachment: cut2.jpg Attachment: cut4.jpg Attachment: cut5.jpg Attachment: cut1.jpg
