I haven't been posting lately because I have really had my head down and tail up in the shop working to get the three guitars I have on the bench to a point where I can get them closed up and begin with binding, purfling and prep for finish.... (get ready Joe ... for at least one of them.. ) Here is a sneak peek before I get the backs on.

The OM has a really nice Lutz top from Shane and B/S set of nicely figured Curly Spanish Cedar from Uncle Bob... Backing for the soundport has layering of Bloodwood/B/W/Bloodwood.

The classical is another nice Cedar top from Uncle Bob with B/S of Aussie Blackwood nicely figured and with a lot of depth.

The flamenca blanca - Spanish Cypress & Lutz) is a birthday / retirement gift for my brother-in-law and I hope to surprise him with it next month.

With a little luck and no serious setbacks I hope I can get these finished up soon.

They look great Peter. I especially like the neck and tail blocks. How are you going to fasten the "bolt cover"? The soundport is super nice too.

Hey Peter,

The guitars look great! I tried to make three at once one time and got all confused as to where I was with each. Is the Flamenca based on the Reyes plan? I would sure like to know how it sounds with the Lutz top when you're done.

Best wishes,
Max

By the way, where did you get your Cypress?

They all look, stunning! I like the head and tailblock inlays! Do you coat the rim with shellac? Everything seems to really pop out in the pictures.

Thanks for the votes of confidence....

Thanks Woody. The cover plate will be fastened to the neck block with some double-sided tape. After the neck block and plate (including the back side of it) are shellacked and sanded smooth, the tape works very well and can be removed with a small spatula to access the fasteners.

Hello Max! I hope to see you at the next get-together. Yes the flamenca uses the Reyes plan and plantilla although I have shortened the scale length from 656 to the std. 650 and made the necessary changes to accommodate it. The cypress came from Darren Hippner @ Luthierwoodsales.

Mitch, yes the inside of the rims on both the classical and OM are shellacked primarily to seal the side tapes. The finish does add a nice touch and pops the grain and since I don't use any side bracing I don't have to be concerned about the future consequences of having to re-glue anything over finish. On the flamenca blanca, I apply super-blonde shellac over the side tapes only, leaving the rims natural and unfinished.

Good stuff man. Let me know if you want to shoot some EM6000 on one over at my place.
