If it's not a Somogyi, it certainly is influenced by Ervin. Is it one of Ervin's? And I want to see a picture of the side detail. Looks like there is a vertical side purfling near the middle of the lower bout |

if it aint Matsuda and it aint Kraut then perhaps Hiro Ebata (sp.?)? by the way, if Matsuda was only a partial answer you would have clued us in on it, right? |

That is amazing design element on the side, very nicely done. Notice the bridge and how thin it is at the edge. This bridge goes back to something Frank Ford did on mandolins. Lighten the load in this area and it makes the instrument some louder. Really nice guitar. Where are other pics located? The wide bone saddle in that gorgeous bridge looks unusually wide? |

http://www.blue-g.com/stk/detail.cgi?pid=02889 that's the most complete set of pics of this guitar....I think.... I learned of Ebata when viewing some instruments at Dream Guitars.... **cough**while Mitsuda is definitely influenced by Somogyi (he did apprentice with him), Ebata takes it to a new level....hopefully Ervin lives by the mantra of "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery" (I know I don't) |
