Post subject:  Help me identify this binding wood please

Last year I purchased some binding during the swap meet. Of course I didn't label everything! idunno

So - I've shot a photo of the two sets of binding in question. I'm most interested in the 4-piece group on the right of the photos.

Would that be Koa? A flame Hog?

Can someone help please.

And if you're really good - what's the wood on the left.

The binding sets are sitting on a piece of Bocote.

Thanks

It looks like Maple to me, but I'm on my laptop now and the monitor isn't great.

To me looks like maple to the right and koa to the left.

Ok - it is obvious I need to take more photos.

I can tell you the wood on the right is not maple as I have multiple set of maple here and it is much more orange/brown in color.

I'll try to post something better in a bit.

Paul, I have seen darker maple like that or it could be flamed eucalyptus.

New photos.

I can tell you the pieces on the left are Cocobolo, the next set of 3 I don't know, the 2 lighter strips are maple, and the far right 4 strips I don't know.

Do these new photos help? Sorry they vary so much in color - it's hard to get them to look the same and the proper color - but hopefully you get the idea.

What are these please?

I like the color of the far right one against the bocote - but don't have enough to do the guitar. So I'm on a mission to get close to this color.

Thanks

Paul,
Here is my guess from left to right:
Coco, Koa, Maple, Flamed Eucalyptus. I just used some flamed Eucalyptus and had used an end wedge of Koa thinking it would be about the same in color. But the koa was darker and browner and the Eucalyptus was lighter. Both woods feel about the same. That's my .02

So where can I purchase flamed Eucalyptus?

If you think you bought some flamed mahogany, the far right ones could be that.

I guess left to right - coco, koa, maple, mahogany

It could be eucalyptus because there are so many kinds, but I agree with Jordan because it looks like it has more pores than most of the eucalyptus I have seen. Are the pores open? Eucalyptus pores are tight.

I've got some Curly Tazmanian Blackwood bindings that look just like the ones on the right. idunno

The light ones look like they could be anigre to me.

I tried to find some e-mails or PMs to help me confirm what I bought.

I personally think that the woods are as follows on the new photos

Cocobolo, low figure Koa, 2 different Maples, high flame Mahogany.

The other options that people have mentioned would have been something I remembered as they aren't "normal" woods in my vocabulary for binding.

I don't think it is Eucalyptus. I would have remembered that.

The ones on the right look like flamed mahogany to me too. I bought some from RC Tonewoods a while ago, and the looked pretty similar. Maybe Bob has something close to the same appearance.
