Terence, We've had fun with these folks before. I think it was Hank that led them on and on and posted the play by play on the OLF. I'd rather watch YouTube videos than talk to some scammer in a city whose name sounds like a song about pores?

Chris, got my fingers crossed. My cello is coming on the bus tomorrow! And I'm a prayin'!

"Dear Bruce...

I am standing beside myself in perspiration awaiting arrival of you. The guitar will be sporting a lovely woody and playing it will enjoy me. Box of money will be marked for your consumption and sent most urgently. If this transaction work well maybe I be a dealer for you guitar to other buyer in four in countrys?..."

Do you guys know how hard it is to write this stuff? Even harder to read it! gaah But it does remind me of the play I made on good old Nurat Ope from Nigeria. He was the clown I played for more than a month several years ago (as mentioned in prior post). It was really fun! I wonder what he's doing these days idunno ....NAH!

Oh Joy! She must be "making the rounds"...I just got the same email!

Should I dust of my Nigerian scam game, changing the names as appropriate and run it up the flagpole to see if she salutes?

This type of scam has been going on for a year or so. Apparently someone must be buying it or they wouldn't keep it up.

I assume that the scammer joined as a member here or one of the other guitar forums that many of us are members of to get access to profile info and email addresses since many of us show them in our profiles. Thats just my thoughts on it.

Hey Bruce,
Tell her that tim says Hi laughing6-hehe We have exchanged numerous emails over the last few weeks. Terence Tan graciously did some ground work for me over there. I got to the point that I had her credit card numbers and telephone number. her shipping address is in a comercial building at the air port, her phone address is on an offshore island and her website is "under construction" registered here in the US. Hmmmm.

After speaking with my credit card company they said {if} I processed her card WITHOUT having swiped the card and an authorized signature on the sales receipt, once she had the product in hand she can keep it and file a reverse charge and get all of her money back AND keep the guitar. They suggested using Western Union on any "questionable" transactions. I suggested that to Monica and never heard from her again idunno

The rule with the next door neighbor is: Wait until the CHECK CLEARS!, and is signed by the bank. Sometimes they will tell you the check 'looks good', before it clears. Make that clear in the policy.
