Well I picked up the "stuff" from Scott. Whew ![]() I did not wax the ends. Some are, most are not. They will be kept at 40-50% humidity with air moving. Do I need to wax the ends? Top woods; Do I also sticker them? Wax them? The stuff is in great shape. But there are a few things to deal with; I have a few board sets of Mahogany that have "curled" a bit. Do I Spray light with water and put into a board press? For how long before I release them and sticker them into the pile? I have 2 board sets that have light spots right where they were stickered before (Paint or finish on the sticker reaction?) Osage orange and a Claro Walnut set are the sets I speak of. Are they toast or can I nurture them back? I can post photo's later if my description is lacking. also Knowing there is so much to learn. I thought I'd play with restorations for a few years. Play around with a scratch build as I learned......I have been handed what I thought would take 3 years to gather. My wonderful wife and business partner of 15 years has bulldozed most of my summer so I can focus on learning. I have a few good books, Mayes DVD's ..........I hope to make great contacts at the A.S.I.A gathering. BUT! Any of you Luthiers within 3-4 hours of Pittsburgh want to trade Pro Photo sessions (family, pet or guitars) or lighting classes in trade for lessons or even a few days of shop slave time PLEASE contact me! ibisimon@hotmail.com |

John, How thick are the boards? Can you post pictures of them showing the curling you mentioned? Thanks, Chuck |

If its stable and dry (probably is) you wont need to wax it. Anything that is cupped should go in a special box, with weights on top, and it will eventually go back to normal. You got Osage O? Save that for when you get good!!bliss I have a bottle of endgrain seal, but I never seem to use it. |
