Hi all,

Here's a little video of my son Dave playing guitar number 9 for the first time. Thought you might be interested since it's all mahogany. The person that ordered this guitar wanted a minimal of bling. Hence no purfling and a satin (polyurthane) finish. The body, fret board and head are bound in ebony.

Thanks for looking.

I have been thinking of building an all Mahogany as well. How is the sound? What thickness did you make the soundboard and any bracing advise?

Sounds great from the other side of the country. What do you think of the all Mahogany tone, Pat? It looks very cool. I really enjoyed your son's playing style also.

Cheerio,
Danny

Thanks for the comments. As for tone, I'm pleased with the sound as it came out as predicted for mahogany by others on this forum. That is, it is strongest in the low to mid-range. I don't think it's quite as loud as the other (spruce topped) guitars I've built. I wouldn't hesitate to build another. Top thickness and bracing were the same as what I've done for spruce tops so I have no special advice there.

Cheers,
Pat
