Thinking of doing a parlor size guitar. Body length 19". Upper bout 9.5". Lower bout 13". Do you usually make the sound hole a bit smaller? On my other guitars I have made them just a bit smaller that 4". Also I was wondering about wood suggestions. What have you done that has worked out? I have sets of Pau Ferro, Mahogany, Paldao, Sapele, EI Rosewood. Any of those you'd recommend and what top? Thanks as always. Neil |

neil; A 3 3/8" s.h. is large enough for those demensions. It still may look to big so do a full size drawing . I'm making two Parlors right now-one Curly Euro Maple &Euro spruce. The other Old Brazilian & Very old Euro. For you - I would use Engelmann because it's usually not as stiff as Sitka. And you can use Red cedar! All the B & Side woods you listed will be fine;justpick the look you want. I use a light(not to tall or wide) X brace because of the short length of it ,and if you want more bass responce make the sides deep -say 3 3/8"-4 " heel to butt. Mike |
