Hi all,

I'm going to buy some wood to make laminated necks today. Eastern maple is what I'm after.

Two questions

1) how long should the wood be allowed to acclimatize to my shop before I build with it?

2) How low should the moisture content be before I start to build?

I have had a crack in a maple/bubinga laminated neck before, however I suspect that the problem was due to being accidently doused in wine. The shop also functions as a brewery and there was a spill.

1. As long as possible an min of a month if your shop in environmentally controlled and depending on the current moisture level of the wood

2. 8-11% IMO

The wine did not cause the crack in of its self. There had t be some environmental issues that added to the issue
