Hi.
I make these up from 1/4" composition cork that comes in sheets and rolls. You could ask at a commercial cabinet shop, they use it to make bulletin boards and such, for schools and hospitals.

I laminate 4 or more pieces with HHG, and clamp them flat with plywood. When dry, cut them down on the bandsaw.

I use the sticky back sandpaper that comes in rolls. I love the little 1"x1"x5" block for sides, see how the corners are rounded not to catch in the waist.

Never used a solid cork block, but I glue 1/4" cork to the bottom of wooden blocks for sanding.

Good idea. I've used leather for the same thing but I like the cork idea better - I'll have to make some up.

No reason not to glue them to a wood block.

I like the lightness of them, the ability to grind them to shape easily, and I wrap all four sides with sandpaper.
