Some of you have been following my questions about alternative neck block woods but that got me to thinking about back bracing also.

I have read here somewhere (can't find it) where some of you have used other woods for back bracing. I would love to hear your experiences with this. What did you perceive to gain by changing from spruce to _______ (insert wood). And of course did your perception come to fruition. I know there may have been an aesthetic quality you were attempting to gain but what came of it from a sound perspective?

Thanks yall guitar buidling homies!

Back bracing isn't a critical as the top. I have seen Hog and I have seen some builders laminate different woods. My best advice is build it and see what you think. These are the things that make your guitar different than anyone else's

I thought some people, some here on this board, used different species of wood in the bracing of the back in order to chase down some kind of tonal issue.

Back stiffness will have a tonal effect.
Density & weight will also.

I would imagine it will(would) be real difficult to measure the difference the woods would make .
