Turned a block of cocobolo I got from Bob 'the Zootman' into a bridge for my OLF SJ this afternoon. This is my first handmade bridge. Other than rounding over the top edge where it drops off to the wings a little too much, I am very pleased with the outcome. I cut the saddle slot on my router table following much of the advice I got in another thread here. I did it in two passes and it worked perfectly. The fingerboard is also cocobolo. All that is left now is gluing on the fingerboard and final sanding. Attachment: SJBridge.jpg Attachment: SJwBridge.jpg Ken |

Thanks gents. I'd like to take credit for the design, but it is Michael Payne's. It does go well with the SJ. Rod, funny you say I work fast. At times I think I am the slowest builder on the forum. I did have a good weekend. I got the fingerboard inlaid and fretted and also inlaid the headstock. Now with the bridge done, I should be able to dig out the spray gear and shoot some Emtech 6000 by week end. I'm anxious to try it out. Ken |

Ken, I'd have to do battle with ya on the slowest builder on the forum business. Anyway, great looking bridge. You're closing in on it now!! ![]() ![]() |

Maybe we need a slow builder thread, I know I'm a contender ![]() I like the bridge too, I'm getting ready to make my first - for an acoustic guitar anyway. |

Ken, that bridge is awesome. Isn't it great to know you can make your own bridge now just as good as what you buy pre-made. ![]() I made my first standard Martin style bridge out of ebony last month as was just amazed I did it. I just think it's cool when we discover we can make something like that. I polished mine up with micro-mesh pads and it shines like a brand new penny! |
