I am building a neck and just cut the truss-rod channel. All good so far BUT ! The rod is 17" and then I checkt Stewmac and others, their rods for SS guitars are 15 1/4" overall length. hmmmmmm Question started ringing in my head and temperament rising to its peak ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lars. |

That's too long for any acoustic I've seen, Lars. It is probably for a bass or a long neck banjo, or some electrics. If the channel will hold it with both ends secure it should still work. I use the 15 1/4" and access through the sound hole. My rod channel starts about 1/2" shy of the nut and runs out the other end. If you install the 15 1/4 rod, just make a plug and glue it in the channel to fill it back up. Ron |

If you can get stuff from Allied Lutherie shipped to Sweden (I assume you can), I'd recommend ordering one of these: http://www.alliedlutherie.com/truss_rods.htm Get the 14 1/4" rod (if the neck joins the body at the 14th fret), and install it the way Mark Blanchard explains on that page. Patience, my friend! There must be something else you can be working on while you wait for the new rod. |

Lars , if this is a martin truss rod , they are designed to stick out . They are for the access through the sound hole , if you want to access the truss rod from the headstock , then you need a shorter one. If you got a 2 way truss rod , they are too long. Did you get that one from me? 17 is too long john |

Thanks my friends. I will order some from allied ! John, No didn“t get it from you, And yes its a 2way rod "gotohs TFC-410. 42cm + 2 cm. so its 17". grrrrrr. frustrating. Just got a mail from the seller and he said they are for acoustic guitars !!!!!!!. but after looking at stewmac allied etc they all says 17"# is for electric. so I am confused. this one sticks out a good inch + the nut. so its to long or I will have to cut the channel way deeper. I was so upset at this shiping as it took 2 months for it to arrive and now it seem to be wrong items in it to. I dont want to name the seller as we all can have bad days and this must have been his, but I do wish I lived closer to his store hahaha. I was in this "finally I can start the neck mood" and then this. ![]() Lars. |
