Post subject:  Sapwood in Sides

I’m looking at purchasing a set of Amazon Rosewood from one of our sponsors. The set I’m thinking about has sapwood in the sides. I have only bent one set of sides before and am wondering if there is anything I would need to be concerned about with sapwood in the sides. I guess for that matter, are there structural issues to think about as well?

Thanks,

John Killin

HI John,

I use Cocobolo sapwood all the time, I love the look and I have never had a problem. You want to stay way from sapwood if its punky, but if its solid, I use it.

Thanks Lance. That is a beautiful guitar. I think the simple black purfling line really sets of the sapwood. Nice job.
