Okay....this is the connector that came on the LMII Vacuum Clamp...  ...and this is the connector that came with the Poject V2 Auto Cycling Venturi kit that I purchased from Veneersupplies.com.  Can someone help me out here? I am tired...and I am frustrated because I know dang well this is going to result in a 10 dollar UPS bill for a 3 dollar part.  Thanks...

Howdy Chris, The first one pictured is a press-loc type fitting where you simply push the tubing in and it locks in place. At least that's what it looks like. If you're trying to hook the two together, you can get another fitting like that from Grainger or a local ACE Hardware that has MPT on one end so you can attach it to the Brass fitting. Then simply join the two together with a short piece of PVC tubing. Not sure if that's what you're trying to do because there's not enough info in your post.  It is very likely you'll find what you need at Home Depot or Lowe's as well. Hope this helps. |

Well...the fitting that Joe WoodWorker supplies seems to be some kind of quick connect / disconnect fitting. I'd like to be able to use it....but obviously the fitting on the clamp won't work that way. I will be making other vacuum fixtures in the shop and would like them all to be universal. Chris |

I use a piece of softish (but hard enough it doesn't collapse) vinyl hose between my pump and all my fixtures. They've all got brass barbs on them and I just pull it off and push onto the next one. It's universal, doesn't leak, and the fittings are something like 50 cents apiece. |

Bob...can you be a little more specific. Are you saying you use a hose....one that fits and attaches to the weird connector that's on the LMI Clamp?....and then at the other end of that hose....you have a brass fitting that has nipples on it....and the brass quick connect that Joe woodworker supplies will work this way? |

The quick disconnect from Joe Woodworker (Veneer Supplies) is similar to what we used to connect to the Shrader valves on aircraft pneumatic systems. It seems to be a nice unit and it connects to the "Brass Tube Adapter For Vacuum Clamping Jigs" that they also sell http://www.veneersupplies.com/product_info.php?cPath=60_45&products_id=825&osCsid=c70c8aa4606405e3484783a4eaed4cf2. If you want to use it you need to change the fitting on your vacuum fixtures to a 1/4" hose barb then attach a short piece of 1/4" hose to connect to the Brass Tube Adapter. This is what I've done on my vacuum fittings and is one way to have a common interface to all of your vacuum fixtures. |

Chris, Those LMI fittings are PESCO fittings. I bounced around with a couple different types and returned to these fittings. You can get them from industrial suppliers, just google pesco. They are $2 to $4 each, depending on the quality. They are also quick release, you just push the top of the fitting in and pull the tube out, that is the real beauty of thses things and the reason I went back to them. If you have a hard time finding them let me know and I will post the link! They really are the best for this work, they are quick and easy and allow you to use 1/4 inch plastic hose which is just awesome! Shane |

That fitting you got from Joe woodworker is a good rig. It attaches to the stem (Shrader) valves found in tires & inner tubes. When I ran out of the fittings I bought from Joe, I went to the local tire shop & scrounged a bunch of old valve stems from the guys in the shop. With a wire wheel on the bench grinder, I ground off the rubber & was left with a brass fitting which fits (& seals) perfectly in 1/4" vinyl tubing. Just heat the vinyl up a bit & it slides right on. When it cools it is airtight. The end with the threads for the valve cap, lock into the quick disconnect you bought from Joe. |

Go with the exact opposite of that level of complexity . I've got one of these at the pump and at every fixture and I just pull the hose on and off. I even do this on some tools where I need to pull 29mmHg, so no leaks. The push-fit adapter can probably be unscrewed and replaced with an NPT barb and if the Joe one can't you can always use a double-ended barb to fit the hose it's on to the vinyl hose. If the hose eventually stretches too much on the end and doesn't seal, just clip the last 1/2" off the end and you're good to go for another few hundred cycles. The nice thing about negative pressure is that it doesn't try to push your hoses off the fittings, so you only need to push the hose over the last couple barbs rather than all four or five and that makes it easy to pull off when you're done.

Chris, You might find something at Fastenal. I bet there is one in Jacksonville. If they don't have it they might be able to point you to a local supplier. You might also be able to call one of the beverage supply places and ask them where they get their fittings. Probably a slightly different beast, but they have to get them from somewhere. Of course I haven't done this so I don't really know for sure, but that is where I would start if I were looking for a local source. Good Luck, John |

You might find some 1/4" barbed fittings at a pet store that sales aquariums. Ace Hardware? Google Them for Jacksonville. They use to have that barbed fittings and valves at the Fish Farmer's Store down here. |
