Looking for "true oil" or similar for guitar finish. It cant be found in Sweden it seems ! And it looks like it cant be sent by air from the states. So does anyone know of where I can find it or similar either in Sweden or in a place where it can be shipped to here.

Hei kompis, hur är läget?

You can find several sellers on eBay that will ship it internationally.

Hi Lars,

I had the same problem for some time until I have found a gun shop that carries it. It might worth a try to check gun shops or hunting supplies shops.
Also I think Thomann carries a care set by music man that includes the oil and wax.
Finally you could check online gun supplies shops like this http://www.thegunshop.co.uk .
It appears that haz mat regulations ( or checks!!) in Europe are less strict!.

Regards
Michael

It´s solved !! I found a place that had it "in Sweden" haha. "it was a riflestore" [:Y:] . I read about the true oil on there webpage and it said it does not dry well on rosewoods and exotic woods due to their oily nature.

any comments on this ? I wanted to use it for a EIR guitar. and perhaps the german top ???? :? will it be ok on tops ? or does it soak in to the top and make the sound hurt.

Hej Arnt. allt är toppen, ursäkta om jag inte skrev tillbaka till dig angående "binding" maskinen ! byggde en stående modell själv. blev toppen :-)''

Lars, I'm finishing two EIR guitars right now and it's working fine. I did put down a seal coat of shellac, though.

Great to know, Thanks Ron. I have filled the grain using eggwhite, looks great, I hope this will not be a problem even under the shellac.

Hey samename!
Can also recomend 'gunstores'/wildlife stores. Thats where I bought it when I did my first guitar. They sold a kit complete with instructions.

Nice looking guit by the way!

lars, ron said to seal with shellac. i just want to make sure that you understand you need to seal not only your eir, but also the top, before applying the tru-oil.

i seem to recall you were talking about trying get a sunburst with tints and shellac, did you end up experimenting with this? if so how did it go?

i must applaud your work, your guit looks very nice and 'clean'. hope you post some soundclips when you get them strung up.

I tried tru oil on a EIR headplate... some parts of it won't dry due to the oil in EIR. You might have to seal it in shellac or something. I resorted to spraying lacquer over it and that solved the problem (I removed the gunked tru oil residue first however)
