Post subject:  What happened to my Hond Mahogany?

Looking through the woodpile the other day and found small white deposits in the grains of my Hond Mahogany. I don't remember them being there last year when I sanded the sides, any chance they are mineral deposits? Any idea if they will disappear under finish (FP or KTM9)?

I only have the one set, so I don't have anything to compare them to, but the back plates are fine.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Laurie

Thanks Todd - I'm surprised I hadn't head that before  , but I do tend to stay away from Mahogany. I must be the only guitar builder who doesn't like it! One more reason for me to stay with Sapele I guess.

Keep an eye on the classifieds - it's on my list to get rid of!

Thanks,

Laurie

FWIW, I have the exact same thing on a bunch of sapele I've been using. I was a little concerned, till I hit it with naptha and it disappeared. No worries!

Well, I'm no expert so I'd have to trust the good advice you've already got but... I have a Larrivee(they use clear porefiller) mahogany guitar and you can still see white deposits in the pores.
