Well, today was supposed to be the big day -- after many hours of fastidious preparation, I'm ready to start pore filling #'s 4 & 5. I was deep into cleaning up the shop in preparation for its role as spray booth when I grabbed the sb-112 from the flammables cabinet, only to notice the bottom half of part A had turned a milky white, and had begun to harden. The top half seemed fine, and when I used it a week ago on the fingerboard, I hadn't noticed a thing, and it performed just fine. My question is this: if the top half is still clear, and looks normal, is there any reason not to go ahead and use it, or should I trash it, order new, and sit on my hands for the next several days till it arrives? Or, does anyone know of a similar product that may be available locally? Thanks as always. Ken |

I'm all into using stuff as long as I can (I refrigerate my HHG and use it till it starts looking bad) but when things start changing in appearance, I trash it. I used Z-poxy finishing resin in my last pore fill and it worked really well. It can be found at most well stocked hobby shops. |

Place the bottle in a bath of hat water and it'll return to its normal state. Glue up a test joint to verify it. |

What Jim said. If it returns to normal after a hot water bath it is most likely fine. I would test it for cure-ability. Mix it and put a blob on some wood or plastic or something and test how well it cures. If it cures well it is strong. I think you will get more out of that kind of test than a joint. Link |

Thanks y'all for your speedy responses -- Link and Jim, that's what I was hoping was the case. And Andy that's great to know that the West Systems may be available locally -- I've been wanting to try them out anyway. Happy days! Ken |

Update: Heated up part A in a hot water bath, it returned to its thinner, clear state, and it worked like a charm. Thanks, fellas! Ken |
