My son and I have closed the box on a mah/cedar acoustic thin line (3"- 4") for him to keep and play. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions/experience for good pick up to install on this type of instrument? He's 11 and building a guitar...Very fun... Ray "Dad why do we need to wear safety glasses when using these go-bars...Oops... Ohhhh, that's why... ":o |

Personnaly I like the LA Baggs Ibeam active, underbridge (presume you dont have a solid straightthrough neck?) gives a reasonable 'acoustic tone', but the Fishman Aura elipse system is also a good one with the 'modelled sounds' |

The ibeam is great for a natural sound but if he plans on playing with a band (drums, bass, etc) the ibeam will not be able to handle the loud volumes. The Baggs Element is great for that and sounds very natural if it is ever used for more intimate "coffee shop" settings. |

The Ibeam and element combo is a super system I am installing one as we speak. but it would have bee much simpler to have installed before you clsed the box but still can be done simple enough. |
