I recently picked up some nice looking 1/16" VG douglas fir veneer for cheap thinking I might use it for my laminated solid liners. I've used spanish cedar on all of my builds so far and I love it but resawing and thicknessing by hand (small shop, no drum sander) is a bit of a pain and time consuming. I would think it would work fine but was just wondering if anyone had used it for liners, any thoughts on drawbacks, etc. Thanks. -William |

I used doug fir on my first guitar as kerfed liners. They worked just fine. I see no reason why laminating them to form a solid liner wouldn't work. It would make a nice stiff side too. |
