Well, I am heading to Brazil tomorrow (Sao Paulo) for work. Initially, images of finding great tonewoods flashes in my mind (until I come down to earth and realize I'll be in the 3rd largest city in the world with over 20 Million folks  ).Anyway, anybody know of any good guitar related excursions in Sao Paulo, whether building or listening? You should go with someone you trust and know, Brazil can be a rough city, especially when they see a 'rich foreign' guy walking around. |

Luckily, I will be mtg a fellow employee who lives sin Sao Paulo - So At least I won't be led astray . He will be bringing me to all of our mtgs throughout the week.Glenn |

I would worry more about enjoying the fine cuisine than the wood. Ask your friend to take you to Catedral da Sé. They did some restoration work some years ago and there is some nice Brazilian rosewood in there in the way of doors and stuff. Rua do Gasômetro has a bunch of wood dealers but the good stuff was gone back in the early 90's. There are some fine pizzerias in "Bexiga" and the steak houses are second to none. Try and get out to Baby Beef in Morumbi. Good eating! The Japanese food is good to. Tell your friend to see if there is a free guitar related concert at Sesc or some similar place. Be street smart! |

Brazil has the first and third world living side by side. From my room in a four star hotel in Raciffe I could see people living in abject poverty. It was quite an experience. Just one tip - they have the most incredible selection of beans and more kinds of fruit than anyplace I have ever been. Enjoy your stay. |
