I had radius sanded my rosewood finger board monthes ago, I went ahead and recently installed the fret wires without rechecking the trueness of the board, I had a few buzzes and another issue ( another one for the stupid mistake thread ) so I pulled the frets, this time checking the finger board for trueness, and observed the once true board had some major dips and high spots! is rosewod prone to changing its shape overtime ? or did I maybe do a " not as good as I thought " job the first time around ? thanks Jody |

Rosewood is sold alot of times not properly seasoned or aged which causes that problem. All wood has to be properly seasoned and dry to quit moveing around after worked. |

Is the fretboard attached to a neck yet. If not, then a little movement is not unusual. |

Get the neck as straight as you can with the truss rod and pull the frets, level the board and fret and level the frets if need be and dress. It will be good practice. Look on the bright side, you don't have to reset the neck. ![]() |

If you got this from ebay most of them buy the rejects. Most of these have dips and other issues. There are too many on ebay that sell junk and pass it off as good stuff. Martin rates the offal of the production as 2nds and rejects. Most of the 2nds are used in kits and sold as parts. The rejects are sold in bulk to ebayers. be aware of your supplier. |

Thanks for the responses, I definatly do not need to reset the neck, I had to pull the frets anyways so I can reshape the radius. i didnt know martin had a three tier rating system , ie .. usable ( or first quality ) , seconds ( slight imperfections they dont want to repair ), and rejects ( unusable ?) I am thinking much of the " 2nds" should be repairable, i mean dips and humps should be able to be sanded out . thanks again , Jody |

A lot of the 2nds. and rejects are probably due to color more then anything else. |

LOL I used a single action truss rod, it made the set up a bit more complicated than when I built the guitar with Frank Finnocchio( we used a double action rod ) fretting gave the neck a back bow , and I could not adjust the neck straight before stringing ! . so I just took a close look at the frets and went on faith , glued the frets in , strung it up, let it settle in. finished the set up and intonation . I had three buzzing frets, I took a little off with a file and some sand paper .My action is about 3/ 32nds on the bass side and about 1/16 on the treble. the playability and sound of the guitar is more than I expected !
