Hi folks. It looks like I found home ![]() I am a Pro Portrait Photographer that eats, lives and breaths Acoustic Guitars. I have even started getting some work published in Guitar mags which thrills me to death. I have photo's in Acoustic Fingerstyle Mag and I hear some coming up in Acoustic Guitar Mag also. Martin has used some of my work.... fun fun 6 months ago I started aquiring tools and prepping a workspace to learn to build. I figured a few restorations will teach me which end the neck should be attached and all. I have this guy here. I have put about 50 hours into scraping off glue and Plaster (Yes Plaster), making a new brace, fixing 3 long cracks, new fingerboard, restored the dovetail, new tuners and now I am ready to learn French Polishing to wrap it up. ![]() ![]() I bought this Walnut tree last Sunday to get my wood supply going. By the time this stuff hits 6%-8% humidity I hope to know what I am doing. Ithink when I get it cut down to back and Side wood I will have enough for me and to trade. ![]() I just wanted to say hi and thanks for the cool site |

Thanks for the welcome. If I can make it I am there with camera in hand! Todd Stock wrote: John:
Welcome aboard! I'd imagine you'll have a lot of questions coming your way on photographing instruments, as well as questions related to that nice looking walnut. You might keep an eye out for the upcoming Mid-Atlantic OLF Open House coming up in May or early June - John and Brenda Hall are hosting at Blues Creek Guitars in NE PA. We spend a good chunk of this event doing demos and intensives (last year: side bending, sharpening, french polishing, plane making, etc.)...love to see a pro photographer specializing in instruments talk about how to shoot guitars with basic equipment. If that sounds of interest, you might PM or email John Hall (bluescreek on OLF...see the masthead for link to Blues Creek Guitars)...I'm certain he's going to be interested. Finally - I love the colors in air-dried walnut...the greens and violets are amazing...it would be nice to get some tips on how best to make those visible in photos. Again - welcome to OLF. Todd |
