Post subject:  Steel string with...

I want to do a steel string with a two inch nut, flat fingerboard and jumbo frets. It would be on an OM with a 25.6 scale, primarily for fingerpicking, some drop tuning. Can anyone give me some feedback? Anyone make something similar or have reasons not to do any part of it?

Thanks

I built a customer a 000-12 fret with a 2" nut, 2 3/8" spacing at the bridge and a 24.9" scale. 20" radius fingerboard. The neck was a little wide for me but the customer loved it.

All of what you specified seem like personal preference things so if it is for you, or a customer and that's what you/they want then cool. If you're thinking commercially putting it out there I don't think you'll find a huge market.

So you actually want a classical guitar scale and FB on an OM box....I see nothing wrong about that. A guy I know played classical guitar for years (including finished Conservatory) then switched to electric; he is dreaming at an electric guitar with a 2" nut and flat FB, I'll maybe build him one sometime :)

my first had those specs, and I like it for fingerstyle. Gives my clumsy fingers room to move. Hate it for strumming chords though...

Thanks guys. I just always wanted a steel string that was made like that. I just didn't want to build one and then find out it was totally impractical.
