| Post subject: | Dogwood as a Tonewood |
Has anyone out there tried out Dogwood for backs and sides? I am curious, as it is beautiful stuff. It is fairly stiff and hard stuff. Very tight grain and closed pores -- so easy finishing. Thanks John |

Too small of timber really for lutheriein most cases. I doubt you will find anyone that has used it other than for appointments. If the piece has nice heartwood then it is pretty but is mostly pretty plain. It dulls tools fast |

Plum is really nice hardwood. It's also hard to find big enough trees though. It's also hard to find them that are big enough, but not diseased. I have a few pieces from some trees I cut in my yard, years ago, but it is limb wood, not trunk wood. |
