Does anyone have suggestions on a source for good maple bridge patch material. I can resaw if necessary. I have heard rif sawn recommended. I would love to hear comments on your experiences. |

Hey I have a life time supply of maple in warped table leafs from old kitchen table. some of it is slightly curly for binding. I think most of that is flat sawn tho. Second hand furniture places have a lot of selection. Bill |

Maple boards you will find at Home Depot and such stores are usually suger maple, which makes fine bridge patch. You will easily find riff sawn boards in the lot. |

Maybe it's all sugar maple in Canada, but here in Massachusetts it's mostly soft maples- red and silver- and even some birch. There is some hard maple, but it's less common. It's easy to tell the difference if you're familiar with all varieties, but if you're not, don't assume it's hard maple. |

Oh! I didn't know that. I (wrongly) assumed that Home Depot carried the same products in all it's stores. |
