I am told I have too much time on my hands (not true). But since I build strictly for fun, I just had to try to improve on the OSB guitar #1. Some of the things I did different from the first one

1. Laminated sides (inside is laminated with sapele)
2. All spruce bracing (1st one was Timberstrand (R) bracing
3. Thinned the top to .100 (1st one was .125)
4. Bolt down fingerboard
5. Different style (OM vs. Dread)
6. Ebony binding, headplate, fingerboard and bridge - all else is OSB (including inlay)
7. Gorgeous color and finish by Joe White (ask him how many coats of epoxy!) Thanks for your patience Joe!

The photos don't do the color justice. Most people are shocked when they realize what it is.

I keep telling people that they don't need to spend a ton of money to build a great guitar. I've been trying to prove it by using materials that most wouldn't think of using.

How does it sound? Come to the OLF gathering at John Watkins on April 18th and you can hear it in person (how's that for a teaser) Actually it sounds quite good. Many times better than most people expect. I'll let those at the gathering describe the sound for you.

I thought the first one was remarkable! Can't wait to hear this one...it is just so pretty, too. Well, pretty for being made of wood chips anyway. Ha!

I like to think of myself as an unconventional "out of the box" kind of thinker but............ :shock: Is there going to be a sound file after the gathering for those of us that won't be there? You just got my mind turning a million miles an hour about all the OSB scraps I have left over from the workshop I built last summer, or as my co-workers call it...."The Man Cave".

I've been waiting for you to post these pictures John.
The color is much more vibrant in real life, close to shocking. And the sound was quite suprising, especially after hearing the first one.
The pine tree inlay on the peghead was not designed to have a trunk on it, much to my suprise. John said it just turned out that way with a small flake that didn't take the dye.
Just a thought here, with all the epoxy it took to pore fill this guitar, is it really an epoxy body with OSB filler?

Not an Irish tribute (although it could be since my wife is Irish and St Pat's day is next week)

Maybe I'll just bring some OSB back and side sets for door prizes! laughing6-hehe



Steve - it is quite possible that there is more epoxy than OSB!

I'll try to post some sound clips if I can find someone to record it
