I can see why Warmoth wouldn't do stainless steel frets on a bound neck... but anyways I tried using cutters and it just ends up destroying them due to the hardness of the fret. I ended up using the grinder that came with the wagner safety planer to grind off the tang then I will get the rest of it with a file... how does anyone else do stainless steel fret on bound neck?

I've just done a fretboard with stainless frets and used the Stewmac tang nippers. And yes - it certainly is tough stuff.

So how long did the nipper last? I heard about people buying a nipper from radio shack or something and it was same as Stewmac nipper but only with something filed in for the frets. I can't find any tools here that looks remotely like it however. I think a grinder for me is a more viable alternative though because it won't wear out, I just need something to hold the fret with as I grind it because the fretwire gets really hot.
