Post subject:  Block Plane Parts

I picked up a couple of block planes at an antique store today. I found a Stanley 11 and a 102.

For the 110, I need to find a knob for the front. I thought I had one that would work but I didn’t.

For the 102 I need a bit more. It didn’t have a blade and I had never seen one of these before. As it turns out it is missing the adjustment wheel. So I need to come up with an adjustment wheel and a blade, and after closer inspection, it looks like the screw to the adjustment wheel is broken off in the lever cap. I might be able to drill it out, but have never had a ton of luck doing that in the past. I really should have looked at this one closer. I will probably need to just find another one and scavenge parts.

Is there a dealer out there that sells individual parts for older planes?

Thanks

John

Thanks.

The 102 was defiantly an impulse buy (like anything in an antique store isn’t). I figured I would be buying a new blade for it anyway eventually, but didn’t think through the mechanics on adjustment. I think I deluded myself into thinking it was mostly there. But the base has most of the japanning on it and the lever cap is OK if I can remove the broken screw in it. And it was only $12 so hopefully I can pull something together on it.
