Found this on Frets.com looks pretty cool. What is the 'thousandths' measurement for 4mm? Anyone know?

There are online conversion tools available. An inch contains 2.5cm or 25mm, so 4mm would be .16"

Or just measure a 4mm drill bit...

an inch actually has 25.4 mm ....

Use the 25.4 to maintain acceptable accuracy. Multiply inches by 25.4 to get mm. and divide mm by 25.4 to get inches.

StewMac's string spacing rule is one of my must-have tools. For just over $20 it's one of the best values you can ask for. Highly recommended!

I mmade one of these, increasing the spacing by increments of .1mm. Works very nicely.

on the topic of conversions, not many people know this but in a google search bar, you can type "4mm to inch" and it will give you the conversion in inches. This is also good for finding currency conversion as well as other units of measure. Its pretty nifty, especially if your not around your computer and you can google with your phone.

Ok,cool google tip!!

I got the measurements wrong... oops_sign

You increase in increments of .1mm which is:

.10 millimeters = 0.00393700787 inches

I don't think I can do that accurately with my calipers and an exacto knife, so maybe the stewy mac tool is the way to go...

If you take all the 'its only $20 dollars' and add them all up, they start going into the hundreds pretty quick.

I may still tinker with this before I shell out the dought though....

Every $20 is a victory!

I just added one of the StewMac string spacing rules to my last order; after all it was only another $20 idunno

You are so right, tho, you start adding all of them up and you get to $100 real quick and it doesn't take to long to get to $1000 (which I passed long ago). So who needs disposable income? laughing6-hehe

Google is good for all sorts of other measurement conversions too, such as smoots to cubits! What worries me is I know what both of them are...

Given that, this now seems totally relevant to the thread as a whole:
