Guy...thanks for posting this. Looking forward to reading...and reading his books.

The video itself begs to be viewed repeatedly...it is incredibly well produced...what else would you expect from Somogyi?

If you follow the YouTube link (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6DQ6JfVT44) you can view it in HD... well worth it if you've got the Internet connection to handle it.

I have been in touch with mr somogyi about the book and i am hoping to stock it for folks in the uk.

it is supposed to available this fall but apparantly there has been some small "obsticale's" in the way up till now.

I will try to post back when i hear some more,
Hopefully i should hear some news in the comming couple of months.

yes, there have been several delays in the release of the volumes...the last I heard from him (October of last year) was June of this year, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are delayed again...perhaps he will include a set of prints for one of his designs as I requested (one could only hope)...

if I remember correctly the cost will be $100 for the first volume, $250 for the second, and a discount if both are purchased....I've already got the funds earmarked and am awaiting the release with baited breath!

Fabulous news! Not being able to do the building course with Somogyi has been a huge source of frustration (if your starting point is Oz - you're looking at nearly 10k by time you're done and back home).

I'm getting the books! No question there.

Thank You so much. That was a treat to watch. I cannot imagine what a blessing it would be to spend a weekend with Ervin in his shop. I will be watching for those books for sure!!!

My goodness! What a treat that was to watch. A real well done video.

The playing was phenomenal and the sound of the instrument really was beautiful.

I've never really had a look at any of Ervin's work before, and I have to say his level of detail is amazing. Some really classy looking instruments. I can't believe he does that without CNC!

The books must be an interesting read. More details about them are mentioned on his website; http://www.esomogyi.com/book.html. From the table of contents shown, it seems the books would cover in details both on how-to's as well as the acoustics.

A must buy though at that price I doubt I'll be able to afford them, I feel though that this is just another marketing ploy that he'll withdraw after a while when that fickle mood takes him!

For being inactive around the forums for a little bit, it is really nice to come back to something like that. That was a very well constructed video and the music was fantastic. I would watch the video for the music alone.

That definately is going to be a must-read book, I just hope that what you all are saying about the price isn't true. That would break me. gaah
