I have a set in the pile. Really nice ping to it. I cant wait to use it. I think John Mayes used it on a guitar I say some pics of. Search the archives.

I’m working on a dreadnought made out of Leopard wood right now.
The sides are prone to cracking, give them lots of support and take it slow.
As a side note I seem to have a mild allergic reaction to it, which I haven’t noticed with other woods.
So take care with it. I use a mask and gloves and I’m okay.

The archives have a little bit about the wood, but it seems that not many people have completed guitars. I'm still wondering what the tonal qualities might be like. Dave, thanks for the heads up on the dust. How about a report when you're done with that guitar?

I'm pretty sure the stuff Allied now sells as leopardwood is what BobC sold a few years back as lacewood. I found it hard to bend and prone to sudden failure when its elasticity is exceeded.

It's darker and more brown than Austrailian Lacewood (golden color) and way harder. I've heard people call it Lacewood. How was the sound on that guitar?

I have a Leopard set I picked up at a swap meet as well as a Brazilian Lacewood set from Allied. They are very different even though they are both sometimes referred to as Lacewood. The Leopardwood is heavier and more like a rosewood and the Brazilian Lacewood is more like HOG...to generalize it.
