Ok it's not a lot but it's MINE!

We bought our first home. When the house was built in 1997 the garage was professionally converted to a shop/office so it;s all finished out, climate controlled, lighting, nice doors and windows... We move in in a few weeks. I'm excited!

On the down side... the house has nlue carpet thanks to a 81 year old woman... :) Ah well...we are planning on walnut hardwood floors in a few years.

Congrats! We'll want shop pictures as soon as you're installed, of course. Blue carpet? Bet it really "ties the room together"... laughing6-hehe

Dang, between that and the weather, I am clearly spending my time in the wrong part of this great land of ours.

Nice thing about blue carpets is that have absolutely no remorse in getting rid of them!

You're trying to hurt me, right? For 120k, I could buy a closet here in LA. [headinwall]

Congrats on the house. It should be a lot of fun building in that shop. [:Y:]

That looks great, John. At least the shop is right up front. You won't be spending your time in the shed behind the house!

Wow, awesome house John! You're definately killin us here in California. 120K won't buy a single car garage - even now. You and your wife are blessed. Hope your new digs treat you well. Bound to be a lot of great guitars coming out of there.

John,
That is great news and horrible news! Great news about the new house, and horrible about the job! Hope you were able to line something up quickly. Best of luck, and remember I'm always happy to help in any way.

John, it's great to have you back here in the South West.
Your shop/home looks grand, and just think of all the lovely blue carpet that will someday crown your bench tops!

Awaiting great stuff from your shop, amigo.

Steve

Best of luck to you in your future endeavors.

john,
i agree with tracy - bad news, and good news. congratulations on finding the right place. only thing needed on the outside is a nice little "mayes guitar" sign.
can you tell us more about the mcpherson lay off? i know there's been some talk around the olf about the tough economic times for luthiers. when people need to stretch their bucks the first thing to go is the extras - like hand built guitars. is that the basic explanation behind a small company like mcpherson laying off 3/4 of it's staff? or is it more complicated than that?
if it is that basic, do you know if it's also affecting other smaller companies like santa cruz and collings?
phil

ps. wishing you and your family happiness and stability as you set down roots.

Looks like a nice house and home. Congrads on first home. Looks like your shop is twice the size of mine. What color blue? I once had a light silver sky blue carpet (Stain master) and I thought it looked fine and opened up the place.
